A Muddy Run for Cancer Research

One of our staff members, Kelly, has been persuaded by her sister to take part in the Race for Life Cornwall Pretty Muddy 5k run in September, together with some of her sister’s work colleagues – the ‘Trauma Girls’ at Treliske Hospital.

Basically, as far as she has been led to understand, it is a 5k run with obstacles and lots and lots of mud! We are sure that her sister has sugar-coated it a bit and she will end up looking like a swamp monster from one of the old black and white horror movies!

However, it is all in a good cause as she is raising money for cancer research, which, as some of you will know, is currently affecting a couple of her very close friends. Training is going well, although there is not much mud around to practise in due to the glorious weather we are having at the moment. Although we are sure that the element of surprise will be much better on the day for not having trained in mud!

We will be posting pictures of the creature from the black lagoon after the event so that you can all have a laugh at the state she ended up in and hope to post a few updates on how the training is going. With only a few weeks to go, it is time to really hit the tarmac and lay off the delicious cakes that the boss’s wife makes for us!

If you would like to sponsor Kelly, the link to her Just Giving page is: http://www.justgiving.com/Kelly-Aldridge

Any donations will be gratefully received and will help Cancer Research to continue to find ways to fight this wicked disease.
